Youth News Week 4 – 2019

“Faithful friends are a sturdy shelter; whoever finds one finds a treasure. Faithful friends are beyond price, no amount can balance their worth. Faithful friends are life-saving medicine; those who fear God will find them. Those who fear the Lord enjoy stable friendship, for as they are, so will their neighbors be.” SIRACH 6:14-17

Thanks to those who came out for our CHOSEN kick off last Tuesday – to enjoy an evening of fun and friendship at the Bowling Alley! For pictures and video please visit our Facebook page.
Gr. 7 & 8 students are invited to join us as we begin our new semester growing in friendship, sharing some fun and learning about our faith! CHOSEN meets every Tuesday evening from 7-9pm at St Mary’s school. This week we will begin to learn about the Church’s liturgical calendar which the Catechism explains is… “The celebration throughout the year of the mysteries of the Lord’s birth, life, death and Resurrection in such a way that the entire year becomes a ‘year of the Lord’s grace.’ Thus the cycle of the liturgical year and the great feasts constitute the basic rhythm of the Christian’s life of prayer, with its focal point at Easter.” CCC1168

“How beautiful to look upon is the starry firmament! Yet it is only the portal of the blessed country where I hope to go one day.” St. Paul of the Cross
High school, College and University students are invited to an overnight Astronomy Excursion to Camp Northern Lights on Feb 1st and 2nd. Join us to learn about and observe the Constellations, enjoy outdoor activities, time for prayer, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Holy Mass.
Our next Veritas meeting will take place on Feb 15th from 7-9pm at St Mary’s School. Join us as we socialize, share pizza, play games and discuss topics relevant to young adults about living the truth of the Catholic faith in today’s society.
Young adult men and women (over 18) are invited to a Silent Lenten Retreat, March 15-17th at Providence Spirituality Center in Kingston. The weekend will include time for prayer (the Divine Office, Rosary, daily Mass and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament), conference style talks given by Fr. Eric Mason. Please register by Feb 15th.
