Youth News Week 23 – 2019

“Recall then that you have received the spiritual seal, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of right judgement and courage, the spirit of knowledge and reverence, the spirit of holy fear in God’s presence. Guard what you have received. God the Father has marked you with His sign; Christ the Lord has confirmed you and has placed His pledge, the Spirit, in your hearts.” St Ambrose

This week at Chosen we learned more about the Sacrament of Confirmation – that it is the ”seal of the Holy Spirit” which “marks our total belonging to Christ, our enrollment in His service for ever, as well as the promise of divine protection…” CCC1296 We also had a party to celebrate Father Stephen’s first anniversary as a Priest. We expressed our gratitude to him for his faithful service to all of us at Chosen! In addition to this, we had fun playing a game “What’s Missing” and prayed a Litany to the Holy Spirit in the church. Chosen will finish for a summer break on June 18th, however, students and Gr 5-8 are still welcome to join us for our last few meetings which take place Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30pm at St Mary’s School.

“Life with Christ is a wonderful adventure. He alone can give full meaning to life… Live by Him! With Mary! With your Saints!”
St John Paul II

Britt- Grundy Lake Excursion – June 8th – 9th
Young men and women in high school and university/college are invited to join an excursion to hike the Swan Lake Trail at Grundy Provincial Park.
Departure will be from our church parking lot at 7:45am on Saturday June 8th, returning in the evening on Sunday June 9th.

Martyrs’ Shrine Walking Pilgrimage – July 21st – 27th
A physically demanding and spiritually rewarding experience! We’ll set out walking from our church to reach Martyrs’ Shrine in 7 days – a total of 150 kms! This year participation can be in one of the following ways… 1) as an Ordinary Pilgrim- mostly youth- walk the entire pilgrimage or 2) as a Worker Pilgrim- attend but either are unable to walk long distances or wish to assist with various tasks rather than walk or finally 3) the Family Chapter- generally walking as much as the little legs can. Two families or so can “team up” together and one family can be walking while the other is driving. Otherwise, one parent can walk as the other drives.

Both of the above events are under the supervision of Father Eric Mason and several adult chaperones. For more information and/or to register please contact Teresa at youth @ stmaryslindsay .ca.
