Youth News Week 21 – 2019

“Christian marriage and the Christian family build up the Church: for in the family the human person is not only brought into being and progressively introduced by means of education into the human community, but by means of the rebirth of baptism and education in the faith the child is also introduced into God’s family, which is the Church.”
St John Paul II Familiaris Consortio (15)

This week at Chosen we learned about God’s plan for the family. We learned that God has given us our family as a means to grow in holiness and that, despite the fact that family life can sometimes be difficult and complicated; we are called to love our family and obey our parents and grandparents. “The family is the community in which, from childhood, one can learn moral values, begin to honour God and make good use of freedom. Family life is an initiation into life in society.” CCC 2207. We learned that while our families are the primary community in which we learn and grow, we are also part of a community within the Church. We also had fun designing our own board games and playing basketball as we joyfully welcomed a new player to Chosen, Peter Bissonnette! Finally, we reflected on the gift we have been given in each one of our family members and then, with gratitude to God for our family, we took time to pray for them as we finished our evening in the Church. Students in Gr 5-8, please join us Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30pm at St Mary’s School.

“What a great favour God does to those He places in the company of good people.” St Teresa of Ávila
