Youth News Week 20 – 2019

“‘Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you.’ Could anything transcend the joy that is yours, O Virgin Mother? Could anything surpass this grace granted by God to you alone? Is it possible to think of anything more gratifying and more splendid? Nothing can even approach the marvel that we see in you. All things lie far below the grace that is yours; in comparison, even the best of them take second place and their brilliance is overshadowed.”
St Sophronius

This week, at our first Chosen meeting in Our Lady’s month of May, we honoured her by making miraculous medals. We learned about the Blessed Virgin’s apparitions to St. Catherine Labouré and her request of St. Catherine to have a medal made and distributed with these words inscribed upon it, “O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee.” Our Lady said, “Those who wear it will receive great graces.” We also learned more about the great gift of our Baptism, welcomed our new seminarian, Peter Lukow, had fun playing basketball and prayed a decade of the Rosary in the church for our Mothers and Grandmothers. Students in Gr 5-8, please join us Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30pm at St Mary’s School.

“God, give us the courage to protect every unborn life. For the child is God’s greatest gift for the family, for a nation, and for the world.” St Teresa of Calcutta YouCat 383

March for Life – On Thursday and Friday, a group of our young people travelled to Ottawa to participate in the annual March for Life. For pictures from our journey, please see our Facebook page. Thanks once again to all of you who contributed to our fundraising campaign! We are very grateful for your support in making our trip possible!

Theology of the Body Conference – Will be held at Wayside School on Sat May 25th from 9:30am-4pm. This event, for those aged 13-18, will include talks on St John Paul’s teaching about love and responsibility. Join us in learning that true joy and real love can only be found when we live in a way worthy of our great dignity, having been created in God’s image and likeness.
