Youth News Week 16 – 2018

“Son you are always with Me, and all that is Mine is yours. But we had to celebrate and rejoice, because this brother of yours was dead and has come to life; he was lost and has been found.” Luke 15: 31-32
This week at Chosen, we learned about Our Lord’s mercy and forgiveness as we read and reflected on the parable of the Prodigal Son. We also learned about Our Lord’s message of mercy as revealed to St Faustina, a Polish nun who was canonized on April 30, 2000. We also had fun playing trivia and a game of basketball. Next week at CHOSEN we will continue to learn about the great gift of God’s endless love and mercy. Grade 7 and 8 students, please join us. New members are always welcome! Next meeting Tuesday, April 17th 7-9pm, St Mary’s School.

Thanks to all of the high school students who joined us on Friday April 13th as we met for fun and fellowship – enjoying pizza and playing basketball! We learned the Catholic Church’s teaching on evolution and finished with a time of prayer and the Sacrament of Confession in the church. Also, we discussed plans for our bus trip to March for Life in Ottawa on May 11th and 12th where we will join with thousands of other Canadians to defend the fundamental right to life on Parliament Hill. We will also be attending the Youth Banquet and Conference for inspiration and education aimed at equipping us with the knowledge and tools we need to build a culture of life in our society. Thank you to all of you who have already given a financial donation for our trip! We are still collecting donations in order to cover the cost of bus transportation, accommodations and event tickets. Youth representatives will be at the Masses on April 14/15 and 21/22 to share more information, answer any questions you may have, receive your kind donations and express gratitude for your support! Youth interested in attending March for Life, please contact Teresa Mulligan via email at youth @ stmaryslindsay.ca.
