Youth News Week 11 – 2018

“Christ has no body now but yours. No hands, no feet on earth but yours. Yours are the eyes through which he looks compassion on this world. Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good. Yours are the hands through which he blesses all the world.” ~ St. Teresa of Avila
This week at CHOSEN we learned about the Corporal Works of Mercy; to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, clothe the naked, visit the sick and imprisoned, bury the dead and give alms to the poor. These are kind and virtuous acts by which we help our neighbours with their material and physical needs. We learned that when we act in this way we bring Christ’s love into our fallen world. We also spent time in the church praying for those burdened by life’s various struggles. Finally, we found joy in the gift of each other’s company playing games, performing short skits, and enjoying homemade muffins! We will not be meeting next week due to March Break; however, CHOSEN will resume again on Tuesday March 20th from 7-9pm in St. Mary’s School. New members are always welcome!

This past Friday we had the great blessing of welcoming the Sisters of Life to our Ora et Labora meeting! We are very grateful for their presence with us, joining us in prayer as we recited the Stations of the Cross and accompanying us as we visited the Kawartha Lakes Pregnancy Centre! It was a great joy to meet these lovely religious sisters and learn more about their charism of life. We also want to offer a big THANK YOU to Luke and Beth Proctesimserr for their time touring us through the Kawartha Lakes Pregnancy Centre and educating us about the great work being done there – protecting life and supporting families!
Our next meeting will take place on Friday March 23rd. when we will once again have the great privilege of welcoming some special guests – The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal! More details to follow.
