“Do not be afraid to be holy! Have the courage and humility to present yourselves to the world determined to be holy, since full true freedom is born from holiness.” — St John Paul II This week at Chosen we learned about our obligation, through exchange with others and common work, to build up a good and just society. We learned that our ultimate goal is eternal life and in our relationships, most importantly within our families, we are meant to help each other achieve this goal. From this vital foundation the common good and the order of society should then be “founded on truth, built up in justice, and animated by love” (CCC 1912). Finally, we learned about the importance of praying for one another and the powerful intercession of Our Lady. We read a beautiful story about the power of the Rosary from the book “The Secret of the Rosary” and spent some time praying the Rosary. We also had fun building bridges and playing basketball! Grade 7 and 8 students, please join us this week when we will learn about true charity toward our neighbour – how our dignity and worth comes from God and it can never be taken away. New members are always welcome! Next meeting Tuesday March 6th 7-9pm, St Mary’s School.
High school students our next meeting will take place on Friday March 9th when, accompanied by The Sisters of Life, we will visit the Kawartha Lakes Pregnancy Centre. We will begin by reciting the Stations of the Cross in the Church and will then move to the Kawartha Lakes Pregnancy Centre where we will learn about their mission as a Christian Ministry committed to protecting life, supporting families and serving our community. We will finish our night back at St Mary’s school for pizza and social time. High school students please join us Friday, March 9th at 7pm, St Mary’s Church.
