Pastor’s Corner

Fr. Joseph LoJaconoI hope to see many of you for the Immaculate Conception Masses December 8th, at 10:00 am and 7:00 pm and see many souls out for the Day of Reconciliation, December 11 from 12:00 noon to 5:00 pm.

Later Saturday, December 11th we will be praying with the diocese for Pope Francis meeting with indigenous delegates in Rome.
On December 11th we will have special intercessions during the morning Mass and encourage people to come to silent adoration until 12:00 noon that day to pray for this meeting. On December 16th starting at 9:30 am other parish groups will have an additional prayer session.

As a newcomer to Canada, it is enlightening to me to understand, contrary to headlines, that Pope Benedict XVI already apologized and there has been a long effort by the Catholic hierarchy reaching out in reconciliation. See for example, Fr Raymond De Souza’s article explaining this, https://fatherdesouza.com/articles/2021/6/21/lets-set-record-straight-on-papal-apologies. We pray that there may be continuing reconciliation for those affected negatively by Catholic institution’s involvement with residential schools.
