Ongoing security concerns at St. Mary’s is prompting me to consider enhancing our security system at the Church. To address this, we are considering installing surveillance cameras. As some of you may have heard we had a small vandalism incident last Thursday evening when someone entered the Church when it was open and persons away from the facility and put pro-abortion writings on the St. John Paul II statue. It has been cleaned. Over the last year and right before I came, we had other security concerns of vandalism and mischief.
Pope Francis’ visit to Canada for process of healing with Indigenous people. It is good the parish prays in union with Pope Francis for the ongoing process of healing and reconciliation with the Indigenous people July 24 to 29. The reconciliation process can be helped through the grace of Christ and our Christian witness. In addition to prayers and donations to the Reconciliation Fund, I would love to see our parish do a concrete social outreach directly to a particular Nation, such as a former parish of mine used to send donations of mattresses to the Lakota Nation in South Dakota. Please send the office a note if you have suggestions.
