SAINT SIMON
Saint Simon is known as “Simon the Zealot” because of his zeal for the Jewish law. He was not from Cana nor was he a member of the Zealot party as his name might lead one to think. He was a convert trained by St. Peter.
Saint Simon evangelized in Egypt and Mesoptotamia though there are traditions of him being in several other countries or to have accompanied Jude on his journeys.
An early historian has him being martyred in Persia by being beheaded or sawn to pieces.
His symbol is a saw.
Saint Simon’s Feast Day is celebrated on October 28
