Welcome to everyone. If you have come in to mass in the dark of Christmas Eve, you may not have noticed our tower and front. Over the course of the summer and fall the entire tower and northern façade has been stripped and repaired and the result is a superb job of restoration. Come by when the sun is up and you will be impressed.
This is only the first phase of 5 for the restoration. We hope to proceed on the side walls, the south back and tower and then the interior as funds are raised. It will mean more paint stripping and brick repair and replacement and other repairs and, eventually, interior cleaning and painting and restoration.
Yes, it’s a big job and a multi-year one. It will take vision and perseverance and money. This is why the TODAY FOR TOMORROW RESTORATION CAMPAIGN has begun. All of the parishioners are pitching in and donating and even you visitors can take part. There are envelopes in the pews at the Masses, and you can help donate online through our website (www.stmaryslindsay.ca or Facebook (like us on there! –it helps). Maybe you want to donate in memory of a family member or parents. There are lots of ways to donate and help. Just contact us at 705-324-4828.
Help us restore and save the church of your youthful memories- St. Mary’s. And just like in our ancestor’s day from when the church was built and opened Christmas Eve in 1859 and expanded and finished in 1898, ordinary people like you dug deep and raised up a church “Ad Majoram Gloriam Deus” to the Glory of God. Thank You for you generosity.
