The Easter message is loud and clear, “Jesus Christ is Risen!!” This is the message that must ring out in our life and our time. The buzz of Blackberries, the seductive hums of IPads and cellphones, the flickering mesmerizing of TV images, the jangle of music cannot and must not drown out the trumpets of the Resurrection. Look deeply into your hearts and open them to this reality of Jesus alive and active in your life. Whether on the road or in the kitchen, in front of a computer screen or beside a loved one’s bed, Jesus Christ is present and alive. You, too, can be one of the women at the tomb or the two apostles who came, saw and believed!
This Easter we have other reasons and ways to celebrate. Two new members will be received into our Church community Tiiu…. and Hans… Congratulations!
Only six years ago on the death of Pope John Paul II the crowds in St. Peter’s Square were chanting, ”Santo Subito” (make him a saint quickly) and it seems their desire has been met with the celebration of Pope john Paul II’s Beatification on Sunday, May 1. We will join with all the Church in rejoicing over the named of John Paul the Great as Blessed! Our own Pope John Paul II Elementary School will be having a special Mass at 9:15, Monday, May 2 at the church to celebrate and all are welcome.
It is fitting that the beatification will take place on Divine Mercy Sunday and so we will have the Divine Mercy chaplet and exposition at 3 pm on Sunday, May1. This devotion was promoted by the late Holy Father and is encouraged throughout the world. We hope to see you there.
As well, throughout the Marian month of May, we will be highlighting various artistic aspects and titles of Mary on easels at the front of the church.
