Help support our Youth- invest in their future through providing a Scholarship for our Youth to Sacred Heart College Soon, we hope to establish a scholarship in honour of the first Bishop of the Diocese, Jean-Francois Jamot (June23 1828-4 May 1886), as well as some other outstanding names known for their service in the diocese or connected with Catholic education. The Religious Congregation to which I belong, the Congregation of the sons of the Immaculate Conception (C.F.I.C.), will offer $25,000 to start and sponsor a Bishop Jamot scholarship. A few years ago, the same religious community was helpful in funding renovations to Sacred Heart parish rectory in order to establish the YEVO office at the location. It is the hope of the Board of Trustees of Sacred Heart Colllege, and all the friends and supporters of the College, that other groups and individuals may be inspired to contribute in similar humble and generous ways.
My friends, this is a very tangible way in which a parish or a Lay Movement can send a message to our young people that we care for them. We need concrete expressions of spiritual and financial support for our youth, which will speak volumes to their hearts. They will know they are loved and valued-beginning from their own parish community. This tangible concern for our young will help to renew and strengthen their commitment to the Church. They will, in due time, step forward to take up roles in the Church and society. Let’s help to equip them to be missionaries in their future professional and social environments. Through our help, they will be the leaders of tomorrow! University Scholarships range from $3000 to $5000 per year. I kindly ask the parishes, individual benefactors and Catholic groups/movements to prayerfully consider supporting a student who wishes to attend Sacred Heart College. It is up to all of us to work, pray and financially support our Catholic Institutions by supporting individual students, who will hopefully be chosen from our parishes, lay movements and region.
If you have any questions or wish to enquire how to pledge your support to promote authentic Catholic Education by joining the mission of sacred Heart College, please do not hesitate to contact me personally or the chancellor for Spiritual Affairs, Reverend Fr, Joseph Devereaux. We would be happy to meet with you, your parish financial council or executive committees, and any Lay Groups/Movements. For technical information on courses or other practical ways to help, feel free to contact the Dean of Studies, Dr. Robin Lathangue, who will also be happy to be present to answer questions at any meetings/presentations that may be organized in our parishes and with interested Lay Groups. He has already successfully made presentations at both the Catholic and Public Secondary Schools in Peterborough. Will you consider adding your name to the growing list of those who are building up sacred Heart College? Let’s not miss out on a chance to support and grow the first catholic College in the Diocese of Peterborough. Leaders in education have described this as an historic event. Will you help?
May God Bless and protect our youth and all those who protect and help them to obtain an authentic moral and intellectual formation through integral Catholic education.
