This week, I offer a small catechesis on sacred items and occult artifacts. It is a principal of liturgy that all items, chalices, ciboriums, and altar linens are considered holy because they are used in the Mass. Also, any holy items that have been blessed, crucifixes, rosaries, etc., retain their blessing. Blessings call upon the presence of God. If blessed items break beyond repair, they should be burned or buried to give them back to God. Catholics should not have any artifacts from pagan religions or occult sources. In the experience of exorcist priests, these items can attract demons. If you have any, bring them to a priest who should spread holy water over them and destroy them in a proper way.
