Youth News Week 18 – 2019

“The Lord calls us to get up, to rise at His word, to look up and to realize that we were made for heaven, not for earth, for the heights of life and not for the depths of death.” Pope Francis

This week at Chosen we celebrated Easter! We enjoyed pizza and ice cream cake and, after a short discussion about St Faustina and Divine Mercy Sunday, we spent the remainder of our meeting having fun playing games in and outdoors. Finally, we ended with some time in prayer and took a few pictures with our friend Peter who, now that his studies are finished, will be leaving our Chosen group. May God bless you Peter! We will miss you! Thank you for all you’ve done for us! Students in Gr 5-8 please join us Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30pm at St Mary’s School.

“God sends us friends to be our firm support in the whirlpool of struggle. In the company of friends we will find our strength to obtain our sublime ideal.” St Maximilian Kolbe

Veritas – Thanks to all those who came out to enjoy some fellowship and celebrate Easter together -along with a couple of birthdays! Our next young adult group gathering will take place Friday, May 24th. Details to follow.

March for Life, Ottawa – A big “THANK YOU” to all of those who have generously offered financial support for our trip to Ottawa May 9 and 10th! Your kind donations will go to cover the cost of bus transportation, room accommodations and the Youth Banquet and Conference tickets. Envelopes are still available on the boards at the back of the church. To receive a tax receipt please simply indicate your name and address on the envelope.

Theology of the Body Conference – will be held at Wayside School on Sat May 25th from 9:30am-4pm. This event, for those aged 13-18, will include talks on St John Paul’s teaching about love and responsibility. Join us in learning that true joy and real love can only be found when we live in a way worthy of our great dignity, having been created in God’s image and likeness.
For information on any of the above events, please contact Teresa at 705 324 4828 or email youth@stmaryslindsay.ca.
