“God has set up churches like harbours along the coast, so that we may take refuge there out of the swirl of earthly cares and find peace and quiet .” St. John Chrysostom
This week at Chosen we learned about all of the various aspects of a Catholic church. We spent time in our magnificent church, dedicated to Our Lady’s Purification, as we gave thanks to God, our ancestors and those who contributed to its recent restoration; for it is indeed “a beautiful church building” which “directs our attention to the beauty, greatness and love of God”. We learned that our church buildings” are not just stone messengers of the faith, but dwelling places of God, who is really and truly substantially present in the Holy Sacrament of the Altar.” (YOUCAT 190) We also learned about all of the central places within the church building, the sacred vessels and vestments worn by the Priest, all of which reflect the beauty and splendor of our King and Saviour who comes to be with us at each Holy Mass. We also had fun celebrating Hannah and Joshua’s birthdays and playing basketball in the school gym. Students in Gr. 5 to 8 are welcome to join us for Chosen on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30 pm at St. Mary’s School
“Even if you are not afraid to fall alone, how do you presume that you will rise up alone? Consider: two together can accomplish more than one alone.” St. John of the Cross
Our next young adult group gathering will take place Friday, April 12th. We will begin at 7pm with the Stations of the Cross in the church and then move to St Mary’s school for pizza, discussion and social time. March for Life – Our young adults are once again planning a bus trip to March for Life in Ottawa on May 9th and 10th. We kindly ask that you consider supporting our trip with a financial donation to cover the cost of bus transportation, room accommodations and the Youth Banquet and Conference event tickets. Envelopes are available on the boards at the back of the church. Charitable tax receipts will be issued through the parish. Please simply indicate your name and address on the envelope. As always, we are grateful for your financial support and also for the support of your prayers! Young adults interested in attending March for Life, please contact Teresa Mulligan at 705 324 4828 or email
