Youth News Week 47 – 2018

“See how good God is, and how easily He forgives sins. He not only restores what has been lost with His forgiveness but grants unhoped for benefits.” St. Ambrose
This week at Chosen we learned about original sin. – that, in the garden of Eden, Adam and Eve gave into temptation and chose to disobey God and their sin disrupted the relationship and harmony they shared with God, with each other and with creation. We also learned that this is what happens every time we sin; we prefer our will over God’s will. We also learned that God’s love did not abandon us to sin and death. No, God in His great love for us sent us His Son – our Saviour and Redeemer – Jesus Christ. Christ is the “new Adam” who is perfectly obedient to God the Father. Finally, we spoke about how, within the Church, we have also been given the great gift of the Sacrament of Reconciliation to bring us God’s mercy and forgiveness to restore us, heal us and give us the grace to grow in virtue and holiness! We also had fun together playing volleyball and practicing our acting skills. Finally, we finished our evening in the church in quiet prayer. Gr7/8 students are welcome to join at any time. Weekly meetings take place on Tuesdays from 7-9pm at St Mary’s School.

High school youth are invited to join an outdoor excursion to Recollet Falls on November 23rd and 24th. This event includes a 4km hike and other outdoor activities. We will have Mass, time for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the opportunity for Confession. Those interested, please call Teresa at the Parish Office 705 324 4828 or email youth@stmaryslindsay.ca to register.
