Youth News Week 46 – 2018

This week at Chosen we learned about God’s creation of humanity – “male and female He created them” Gen 1:27. We learned that each person is made in the image and likeness of God. We are God’s only creation that is both material and spiritual – we have been given bodies and we also been given an immortal soul that when we die will live on forever – either eternally with God in heaven or eternally separated from God in hell. We talked about how men and women are different in some respects – not just physically, but also in the way we think and act. We are created with equal dignity and we are meant to complement each other, to be companions and to help one another. Men and women called to marriage bring new life into the world but we are also called to work together sharing our unique gifts in all areas of life. We also enjoyed playing games and doing jigsaw puzzles. As this is November, when we pray in a special way for the holy souls, we finished our night by remembering our relatives and friends who have gone before us – praying a rosary for the repose of their souls! Gr7/8 students
are welcome to join at any time. Weekly meetings take place on Tuesdays from 7-9pm at St Mary’s School.

High school youth, we are working on finalizing a date to get together for a social event. Please watch our Facebook page for further details.

Youth Retreat – Theology of the Body
Sacred Heart College is sponsoring a retreat for students from Gr 8-12 to be held Nov 16-18 at St. Alphonsus Parish Hall, Peterborough. The week-end retreat will include games, talks, skits and more as we learn St John Paul’s teachings on love and responsibility. We will learn that true joy and real love can only be found when we live in a way worthy of our great dignity, having been created in God’s image and likeness.
