Youth News Week 45 – 2018

“In the beginning was the Word. . . and the Word was God. . . all things were made through Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made.” John 1:1-3

This week at Chosen we learned about God’s creation of the world. We read the first chapter of Genesis and learned about the order and hierarchy of God’s creation. We learned that humanity, male and female, are the summit of His creation. We also learned about God’s command to keep Sunday, the Sabbath day, holy – “God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it He rested from all the work He had done in creation.” Genesis 2:3 Also, in anticipation of All Saints Day, we honoured these holy men and women by testing our knowledge of God’s grace at work in their lives. “St. Bonaventure explains that God created all things “;not to increase His glory, but to show it forth and to communicate it, for God has no other reason for creating than His love and goodness.” (CCC 293)
We also enjoyed playing with one of God’s creatures – a cute little kitten! Gr7/8 students are welcome to join at any time. Weekly meetings take place on Tuesdays from 7-9pm at St Mary’s School.

Our next Ora et Labora meeting will take place Friday Nov 9 th . High school youth, please watch our Facebook page for further details.

Youth Retreat – Theology of the Body
Sacred Heart College is sponsoring a retreat for students from Gr 8-12 to be held Nov 16-18 at St. Alphonsus Parish Hall, 1066 Western Ave, Peterborough. The week-end retreat will include games, talks, skits and more as we learn St John Paul’s teachings on how as persons, male and female, we are all called to a true reverence of the human body and that true joy and real love can only be found when we live in a way worthy of our great dignity, having been created in His image and likeness.
