St. Mary’s World Youth Day Pilgrims are collecting beer, wine, and liquor bottles again to help offset the cost of attending the next World Youth Day to see the Pope in Madrid, Spain in 2011.  Rebel’s for Christ Youth will be going door-to-door collection bottles Sunday May 16th from 12-3pm.  Parishioners are also encouraged to drop  their bottles off on the porch of the rectory anytime.  All of the bottles will be returned for a refund at the local beer store and the funds raised will be set aside for St. Mary’s WYD pilgrims who participated in the bottle collection and are attending WYD.

St. Mary’s World Youth Day Pilgrims are collecting beer, wine, and liquor bottles again to help offset the cost of attending the next World Youth Day to see the Pope in Madrid, Spain in 2011.  St. Mary’s Youth will be going door-to-door with flyers on Jan. 31st notifying households of the bottle pickup which will take place the following Sunday Feb. 7th from 12-2pm.  Parishioners are also encouraged to drop  their bottles off on the porch of the rectory anytime if they live out of town or will not be home on the Feb. 7th.  All of the bottles will be returned for a refund at the local beer store and the funds raised will be set aside for St. Mary’s WYD pilgrims who participated in the bottle collection and are attending WYD.

After much voting, deliberation, and with Fr. Tom’s approval the youth of St. Mary’s Church have come to a concensus on a name for the youth group!  Being Catholic in today’s society is counter-cultural and as a Catholic youth you really have to fight the tide of secular influence at school, in your workplace, and even sometimes in your own home.  Also, Jesus preached through his words and actions a way of living that was revolutionary to the norms and customs of the world at that time.  For these reasons, the Catholic Youth of St. Mary’s with Fr. Tom’s approval have chosen the name “Rebels for Christ” for the name of the Catholic youth group at St. Mary’s Church.  We are presently working on a logo to accompany the name and are open to any design ideas from the parish.
