Dead Sea Scrolls

Don’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view the Dead Sea Scrolls at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto on Saturday December 5th! These historical treasures have been the subject of great scholarly and public interest, as well as heated debate and controversy.

The Dead Sea scrolls consist of about 900 documents, including texts from the Hebrew Bible, discovered between 1947 and 1956 in eleven caves near the ruins of the ancient settlement of Khirbet Qumran, on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea in Israel. The texts are of great religious and historical significance, as they include some of the only known surviving copies of Biblical documents made before 100 BC. This limited engagement is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition of these materials ever assembled in Canada.

This show only goes until January 3, 2010. St. Mary’s Parish has arranged admission to the ROM, coach bus transportation to and from the exhibit as well as a lecture given by a Catholic expert on the scrolls all for only $46. We would be going on Saturday Dec 5th, leaving between 11 am – 12 pm from the church parking lot and returning between 7 pm – 8 pm.

For more information, and to reserve a seat on the bus, email office @ stmaryslindsay . ca or call Brad at the office at (705) 324-4828.
