Reserve Sunday Nov. 2, 2-4pm at St. Mary’s School Gym for an informative talk by a local organic farmer about the need to protect our soil, our seeds and our environment. Development and Peace are launching their fall campaign called “Sow Much Love”. It will inform you on the facts about genetically modified seeds and the threat to small scale farmers in the world. Women farmers produce 60-80% of food in developing countries and are responsible for half of the world’s food production. You will be treated to a poverty meal of lentils, rice and black beans with our tap water to drink. Free will offering for Development and Peace
Pope Francis calls us to feed the hungry and to experience the natural world as a bearer of divine grace but climate changes deforestation, depleted soils and climate change are threats to small family farms and their communities. When there is enough food to feed everyone yet millions are starving. How does our faith commitment call us to respond to Pope Francis challenging question? How can we support small scale farmers both women and men?
