CWL READING GROUP – Four books have been selected for reading, reflection and discussion this year: Rome Sweet Home by Scott & Kimberly Hahn, April Raintree by Beatrice Culleton Mosionier, Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth and Joy of the Gospel by Pope Francis. Start reading over the summer and join us for discussions in the fall/winter.

CWL READING GROUP – April Raintree, a story of two young sisters who are removed from their family, poignantly illustrates the difficulties that many Aboriginal people face in maintaining a positive self-identity. April Raintree is an abridged version for use in schools of the Canadian Classic novel In Search of April Raintree.

CWL READING GROUP – Call the Midwife is more than a popular TV show. This book by Jennifer Worth “a memoir of birth, joy and hard times” has a spiritual dimension as well. The stories from the 1950’s, from a world vastly different from our own, deal with many of the social issues that are still a concern today.

CWL READING GROUP – We will be reading Joy of the Gospel, by Pope Francis. Download an 8 page PDF Reading Guide to use for reflection on the issues as you read through this document.

CWL READING GROUP – Did you finish reading Rome Sweet Home by Scott & Kimberly Hahn? Watch for the date of a meeting to discuss the book in the fall.

CWL READING GROUP – Learn computer skills through our reading group to enhance your enjoyment of reading. Get help with managing PDF files, using e-readers, reserving library books and using Overdrive to borrow e-books.

CWL READING GROUP – Many League members are interested in reading for a variety of purposes: to enhance their spiritual life, for personal growth, as a form of relaxation and entertainment, and as a learning tool. Why don’t you join us?
