St. Mary’s Parish & St. Thomas Aquinas CSS

The St. Mary’s Parish & St. Thomas Aquinas CSS World Youth Day Partnership Committee joined hands for fundraising for 11 Kawartha Lakes youth and 1 chaperone travelling to Spain this August. The support from the community was tremendous and the concert was an outstanding success.

The evening brought together folks from far and wide. We sold 478 tickets and our break-even point was approx. 350 tickets which mean that we made a profit of roughly $2000! Many of the WYD pilgrims were able to attend the concert and were introduced to the audience.

Madison and her 6 piece band “South Mountain” had the crowd swept off their feet in a matter of seconds! The group kept the audience engaged and excited as Madison performed a sneak preview of new recordings fresh off the press.

St. Thomas Aquinas math teacher, Kris Newby, shared his musical talents singing a few original ballads and an encore song with Madison. The only disappointment was the night came to an end too soon.

The line-up for autographs lasted an hour long, bringing the people together to meet Madison and share her smiles as she graciously met her fans. Patrons also had the chance to visit displays presenting World Youth Day information and various educational pathways in the dual credit programs involving Health, Arts and Culture, and Apprenticeship programs offered at St. Thomas Aquinas in partnership with local colleges.

The joy was celebrated all throughout the Academy Theatre and we thank you all for supporting our event and sharing an evening with Madison and her family. We have a super star in the making! It was a wonderful fun-filled evening of amazing talent! Special thanks to the St. Thomas Aquinas concert committee lead by Siobhan Mockler for their long hours in putting this concert together and to all of our sponsors.
