D & P has already sent over 5,000.000.00 to our partners working to help the poorest of the poor in the Horn of Africa.

Over the next five years our focus will be helping to save land for small scale farmers, particularly in the Global South.

Large multi nationals are coming in, taking over large tracts of land for mono culture and not respecting the environment.

Our theme is “Together we hold the future in our hands.”

Become involved with the issue of Ecological Justice.

Be part of the solution and help cool our earth.

On April 9/10 a collection is taken up for developing countries. Christians are urged to share their goods with others and thus express in a concrete way their desire to come closer to God and all God’s children as a result of their Lenten efforts. Please use the blue envelope in your box or the ones in the pews. Please be as generous as you can. No member of the human family should be forgotten this Lent, here or at home abroad

There will be an important meeting at the Rectory Library on Thursday March 3 at 10:00 A.M.

We will be planning our Share Lent Programme and school visitations.

DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE BUS TRIP TO THE G8 IN HUNTSVILLE

A diocesan gathering is planned for the G8 in Huntsville on Saturday, June 26th.

There will be an out-door Mass at 3:00 p.m. for the purpose of praying for the G8 leaders in a visible way, to encourage their support for small-scale fanning in the Global South and to show we are counting on the government to respect life globally from conception to natural death.

The bus will leave Mount St. Joseph parking lot in Peterborough (corner of McDonell and Monaghan) at 10:00 am., stopping at St. Mary’s in Lindsay, St. Paul’s in Gravenhurst (for lunch), St. Joseph’s in Bracebridge (returning for supper) and on to the site in Huntsville, returning by 9:45 p.m. Cost is approximately $25.00 which is the cost of meals.

POSTAGE STAMPS:
Please save used postage stamps to help generate revenue for D&P. Place stamps in this box marked ‘Stamps’ at the main church entrance, to send to D&P office in Montreal. Volunteers sort the stamps & then place them in auctions. Last March $7,268.00 was earned. This money goes to help our partners in the south who are very much in need of assistance especially with the economic slowdown.
